Economies of Belarus, Russia and Ukraine in the light of economic theories

The course aims at the presentation of economies of Belarus, Russia and Ukraine. The presentation is done on three levels:

1. Description of basic elements of a given economy (size, basic resources, main sectors, general quantitative macroeconomic data etc.).

2. Different macroeconomic theories explaining their functioning (with particular emphasis on New Institutional Economics).

3. Place of the three economies in the international economic integration processes.

Classroom

The classes are intended to present the specifics of the functioning of the economies of Belarus, Russia and Ukraine in the light of existing macroeconomic theories and policies and presenting the most commonly used frameworks for describing these economies today. In addition, during the classes, the integration processes covered by the above-mentioned will be discussed. three countries.

3. Economy of Belarus - characteristic features.

8. Discussion of the theoretical framework used to describe the economies of the region (transformation theories, VoD/CoD, hybrid capitalism, state capitalism).

9. Economy of Belarus - examples of application of the theoretical framework p. 8.

10. Russian economy - examples of application of the theoretical framework p. 8.

11. Economy of Ukraine - examples of application of the theoretical framework p. 8.

12. A brief review of the theory of economic integration.

13. Specificity of the economic integration of Russia and Belarus.

14. Ukraine – from CIS to DCFTA/AA.

15. Summary of classes - key points of the functioning of the economies of Belarus, Russia and Ukraine in the light of existing theories.
