The process of disintegration of the SFRY is a very complex and multifaceted process, divided in several periods, which requires an analysis from multiple points of view. These lectures aim to analyze this process from a historical perspective, political and social. There will, however, appear references to broadly defined sphere of culture, international relations and military history. As the topic of the lectures suggests, the focus will be on analyzing the causes, course and consequences of the process of decomposition of the Yugoslav federation, the conflict and war, as well as the way these events are perceived today from the perspective of a quarter century later. The lecture will be divided into a number of thematic areas, following the chronology of events: a) The Yugoslav federation - a general look at its history b) The crisis of 1980 and its impact on Yugoslav idea c) The 1989 in Yugoslavia - the beginning of another road d) Years 19901-992 - Slovenia and Croatia e) Years 1992-1995 - the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina f) The Dayton Agreement and its implications g) Kosovo - the next stage of the disintegration of Yugoslavia h) The end of the third Yugoslavia i) Between Yugonostalgia and Yugofunebris - prospects for the future. |

(in Polish) Student/ka po ukończeniu kursu: Wiedza: - posiada rozszerzoną wiedzę dotyczącą debat intelektualnych, najważniejszych dyskusji oraz nurtów myśli społeczno-politycznej na temat byłej Jugosławii na tle procesów regionalnych i szerszych K_W01 - ma pogłębioną wiedzę o najnowszych dziejach byłej Jugosławii, rozumie zróżnicowania kulturowe i narodowe oraz ich wpływ na życie polityczne, ekonomiczne i intelektualne w tym kraju oraz na procesy, które doprowadziły do jego końca tej federacji K_W03 - ma poszerzoną wiedzę o aktualnych wydarzeniach, oraz o sytuacji politycznej i gospodarczej w powstałych po Jugosławii krajach bałkańskich K_W04 Umiejętności: - umie zaprojektować i rozumieć własny proces badawczy K_U02 - umie dyskutować o zagadnieniach dotyczących własnej wiedzy i własnych badań K_U03 - potrafi trafnie ocenić współczesne przemiany polityczne, społeczne i gospodarcze w byłej Jugosławii i po niej, ich genezy oraz ich uwarunkowania K_U04 Kompetencje społeczne: - bierze udział w różnych przedsięwzięciach z zakresu historii, politologii, stosunków międzynarodowych i badan nad kulturą K_K04 - posiada pogłębioną świadomość znaczenia zasad współżycia etnicznego i międzywyznaniowego dla ukształtowania więzi społecznych K_K05 - jest wstępnie przygotowany do pracy jako ekspert w zakresie wiedzy o współczesnych Bałkanach w administracji krajowej i samorządowej, instytucjach międzynarodowych, dyplomacji, przedsiębiorstwach polskich działających na rynkach wschodnich, środkach masowego przekazu oraz ośrodkach badawczych i eksperckich współpracujących z krajami regionu. | Assessment methods and assessment criteria: |
Students must attend lectures, only two absences are allowed, other additional absences will have to be credited during the class hours. The basis for the final assessment will be an essay up to 6-7 pages (approx. 5000 words), written Times new roman 12, one and a half spaces, with additional scientific equipment in the form of footnotes and bibliography. |
