Vilnius (in Lithuanian) and Wilno (in Polish), being one city, got different histories according to who, when and in what context is or was making an attempt to told its past and present. The divisions and differences in the histories of Vilnius/Wilno are due to many factors: national, social, religious, ideological and strictly personal. The aim of this course is to trace many histories of one City since the Early Modern Times up to the Present, 21st century. The analysis includes all aspects of City’s past: economy and population, self-governance, religious life, arts and crafts, politics education. |

Vilnius (in Lithuanian) and Wilno (in Polish), being one city, got different histories according to who, when and in what context is or was making an attempt to told its past and present. The divisions and differences in the histories of Vilnius/Wilno are due to many factors: national, social, religious, ideological and strictly personal. The aim of this course is to trace many histories of one City since the Early Modern Times up to the Present, 21st century.
