Short description:	The seminar will proceed through a joint reading of the book ‘Religion Within the Bounds of Bare Reason’ by Immanuel Kant with particular emphasis on epistemological means and strategies used to describe religious experience.
Full description:	Both the limits of the application of our reason and the question of religion have always remained the center of Kantian interest. "Religion Within Reason Alone", which is intended by the author as a lecture on the pure philosophical theory of religion, is one of the most important positions, shaping not only the then and now understanding of religion, but also the workshop for acquiring the pure philosophy of concepts inherent in religious thinking. In the course of the class we will follow Kant's argument step by step, looking in particular at how "the philosopher uses what he has borrowed from theology in a sense which corresponds to pure reason, but which theology does not like! The class will supplement students' knowledge of important books in the philosophy of religion and may provide a good starting point for further independent study of the views of philosophers of religion. The seminar is designed for students interested in problems of philosophy of religion and epistemology.

Learning outcomes:	Student: - knows Immanuel Kant's views - knows methods of interpreting a philosophical text; - comprehensively knows and thoroughly understands the views of a selected leading philosophical author or the current state of research in a selected philosophical issue; - reads and interprets a philosophical text; - analyzes philosophical arguments, identifies their key theses and assumptions, and detects relationships between their theses and assumptions; - detects simple relationships between the formation of philosophical ideas and social and cultural processes; - selects argumentation strategies, constructs critical arguments at elementary level, formulates and responses to criticism - creatively uses philosophical and methodological knowledge in formulating hypotheses and constructing critical arguments - independently interprets a philosophical text, comments and confronts theses originating from various texts - analyzes complex philosophical arguments, identifies theses and assumptions making them up, - determines logical and argumentative relations between theses - determines the degree of significance of the theses posed for the problem or argumentation under study; - is open to new ideas and ready to change opinions in the light of available data and arguments; - is able to cooperate and work in a group; - is able to cooperate and work in a group, taking various roles in it.
Assessment methods and assessment criteria:	The prerequisite for passing the seminar is active participation in the classes (40%) and preparation of at least one class report with own commentary, or preparation and delivery of a lecture as part of the seminar, or a written essay on a topic related to the seminar approved by the teacher (60%).
