The aim of the course is to introduce students to the most important issues of dependence and interactions between globalization and the development crisis in Europe. |

The lecture presents the relationship between globalization and the crisis of development in Europe, with particular emphasis on the institutions of the European Union and the Member States. Characterized are, among others: the concept of globalization and its various interpretations, the most important dimensions of globalization, the processes of globalization in theories of social development, the evolution of the role of Europe in the processes of globalization (including the role of the EEC / EU after the fall of communism), the impact of the global crisis on the development of the EU, assumptions and implementation of the EU strategy and policies, discussions around the concept of a multi-speed Europe, different economic and social reactions to the crisis in Europe, competitive political scenarios for the development of the EU and the potential and actions of Europe compared to other regions of the world. |

Knowledge: • defines the main concepts characterizing the processes of globalization • knows the terminology reflecting different concepts of globalization and social development • describes Europe as an area of coexistence of various approaches to globalization • demonstrates an understanding of the relationship between globalization and the various dimensions of the EU's development crisis • places the phenomena and processes concerning political, economic and social changes taking place in the countries of Europe and the EU in the context of globalization Skills: • can characterize various concepts of globalization and combine them with discussions on the development directions of European countries and the EU • analyzes critically statements about globalization and political, economic and social development • is competent in the selection of literature on the subject and sources of information on the mutual relations between globalization and the development of Europe • articulates the acquired knowledge in a coherent way Social competence: • is able to take an active part in the discussion on the relationship between the processes of globalization and the development crisis in Europe • compares various concepts and actions of states and social actors in the face of globalization processes |
