  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;

Prerequisites (description):

Health declaration - after knowing the ruls of the sport section of the University of Warsaw I declare, that Im healthy and I can fully take part in these exercises. In case of any difficulties, I will inform the teacher.

Short description:

Workout strengthening particularly abdominal and back muscles. It relieves back pain. It provides strength, agility and a slim and harmonious figure.

Full description:

Workout based on a combination of exercises to strengthen the whole body, particularly the muscles responsible for spine stability.

The purpose of Pilates is to develop proper posture habits, improve general physical viability, regain core muscle tone and enhance flexibility.

Training includes routines on three difficulty levels as well as their modifications. It involves exercises which mobilise the spine, strengthen and stretch the muscles and improve balance and co-ordination.

The exercises are performed on a mat using the body’s own weight or some pieces of equipment (e.g. weights, gymstick or step) to calm music. The pace of exercises is set on an individual basis.

Learning outcomes:

Students:

- will acquire the general knowledge of the human body and its functioning;

- will be able to exercise safely;

- will learn how to work in a team;

- will understand the need to stay fit in order to remain healthy;

- will be able to use sports equipment correctly;

- will develop special motor skills under the guidance of the Physical Education and Sports Centre’s staff.

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

The basis for passing the course is systematic, active participation in classes.
