Short description: |
During the course students will acquire skills and vocabulary in English at C1 level for critically analysing and writing academic texts. As a result of this, they will develop skills in presenting their ideas visually, orally and in written form at an academic level suitable for writing an MA thesis. |

Academic Skills for Thesis-writing • Understanding the structure of research articles/MA thesis + Literature review + Theoretical framework + Methods + Results + Discussion and Conclusion • Effective presentation skills (oral, written, visual) • Improving note-taking and oganisational skills • Expanding relevant academic vocabulary • Summary, coherence and cohesion skills • Revising and correcting errors and style • Presenting and promoting research results |

On completion of the course, a student will: • be able to critically evaluate an academic article (K_W01, K_W07, K_U01) • be able to clearly express their opinions, both orally and in writing (K_U06, K_U08, K_U09) • be able to constructively discuss their own and other’s opinions • be able to write an article review (K_U06, K_U09) • be able to write a discursive, academic essay (K_U06, K_U08, K_U09) • have raised his/her confidence in approaching and analysing academic literature (K_K01, K_K02) |
