ECTS credit allocation (and other scores): 2.00 Basic information on ECTS credits allocation principles:
  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.

Prerequisites (description):

General knowledge about processes occurring in the natural environment, with particular regard to the geological environment. Knowledge in the field of hydrology, hydrogeology, buildings, infrastructure, spatial development.

Short description:

Providing information on the nature, scope, research methodology and tasks as well as legal grounds for the functioning of monitoring of the natural environment in Poland. Types of observation networks, their organization, principles of organization and observation. Acquaintance with the state of the environment in Poland in the light of the results of the State Environmental Monitoring system.

1. Environmental monitoring - the subject and tasks of environmental monitoring,

2. Subject of monitoring - landscape, geo- and eco-system,

3. Basics of monitoring organization and functioning,

4. Metrological basics of environmental monitoring - part AND:

definitions and definitions, measuring path, sensor - transducer, metrological characteristics of the measuring system

5. Metrological basics of environmental monitoring - part II:

selected elements of measurement methodology, transmission of measurement results remotely,

6. Organization and structure of the State Environmental Monitoring (SEM) system;

7. Block (research) of SEM emissions:

7.1. monitoring of air emissions,

7.2. waste

7.3. water pollution.

8. Block (tests) of immission, organization and functioning rules, assessment of the state of the environment in the light of observation results:

8.1. air pollution monitoring,

8.2. noise monitoring

8.3. surface water monitoring (rivers and lakes).

Learning outcomes:

Students will acquire the skill (in relation to groundwater and waste landfills):

• assessing the state of the environment based on the results of monitoring,

• and assessment of the state of the region's environment (voivodship, drainage basin) based on the results of monitoring the basic components of the environment.

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

Class attendance is important; activity during classes; preparation of an integrated monitoring system report for a selected object or area.

Practical placement:

They are not required.
