Short description: |
METHOLOGICAL CLASSES 20 h exercises in the computer lab. Mini lecture, practical exercises, project method. The main purpose of the course is to learn the theoretical and practical skills of using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in spatial analysis of social phenomena and research. |

Participants will learn about the functionality of GIS as a tool for analysis and modeling of complex spatial relationships of the studied issues. The use of various spatial data models (vector and raster) and their integration as well as for the production, acquisition, editing and visualization of data will be considered. Spatial data infrastructure, spatial and attribute data, acquisition and ordering. Spatial analysis. Analysis of socio-economic data. Visualization of socio-economic data. Knows and understands: - basic principles of knowledge transfer to the economic and social sphere as well as commercialization of results of scientific activities and know-how related to these results. Skills: Student can: - use knowledge from various fields of science to identify, formulate and innovatively solve complex problems or perform research tasks, in particular: - define the aim subject of scientific research, - formulate a research hypothesis - develop research methods, techniques and tools and apply them creatively - infer on the basis of scientific research results. |

Assessment Tasks: - attendance, passing a test, positive grade for the project. Learning Outcomes Assessment: - colloquium, project grade. Assessment criteria: - attendance at 80% of classes, passing test, positive evaluation of the project. |
