Short description: |
Systematization of the knowledge and skills in the methodology of the literature scientific research, allowing a critical analysis and interpretation of the (historical, and in particular contemporary) research strategies and the election of one’s own; Broadened knowledge of the interrelations of the literature science with other humane disciplines allowing the integration of research perspectives. |

What is a methodology? 5. Classification of the methods. Examples of empirical research. 6. Foundations of scientific work (humanities). 7. Philosophical and psychological foundations of literature theory. 8. Introduction to the theory of literary work. Literary work – analysis, interpretation, evaluation. 9. Introduction to the theory of historic-literary process. 10. Sources of literature knowledge. 11. Historical review of the methodological positions and schools. Theory of literature and methodology of literary research in 19-20th and 21st century. New tendencies, forecasts. 12. Literary research and others. 13. Imagologie. 14. Learning outcomes: |
After completing the course, student: KNOWLEDGE - has the basic knowledge of philological studies and methodology of the literature scientific research; - knows the specifics of the literary studies and its place in the general structure of the humanities; - knows the basic Polish and Russian literary terminology. SKILLS - is able to use basic literary terminology when talking about literary phenomena and processes; - is able to correctly select sources in the field of methodology of the literaturę scientific research and make use of the information contained therein; - can update his knowledge and improve his skills. SOCIAL COMPETENCIES - is aware of the diversity of scientific paradigms, respects and appreciates them. |
Assessment methods and assessment criteria: |
1 ECTS (30 h) - seminar 1 ECTS (30 h) - student's own work (preparing for seminar and test) Written test Questions: 4 Max points: 12 (4x3) Points and marks: 6,5-8 – 3,0 (dst) 8,5-9 – 3,5 (dst+) 9,5-10 – 4,0 (db) 10,5-11 – 4,5 (db+) 11,5-12 – 5,0 (bdb) 5! - Is able to faultlessy answer all questions (max points: 12), refers to knowledge not only from the teaching programme (points: 13). The student has the right to 2 unexcused absences, each subsequent one requires justification. The lecturer decides on the recognition of absence. Exceeding excused and unexcused absences by 50% of classes may be grounds to fail the course. The conditions for passing the course on the resit exam are the same as on the ordinary of exam. If it is not possible to conduct classroom classes, classes will be conducted using distance communication tools, most likely Google Classroom and others recommended by the University of Warsaw. |
