Wykład poświęcony jest kulturowej historii fotografii w ujęciu tematycznym i problemowym. Technologia fotograficzna (zapis i utrwalenie obrazy przy pomocy światła) pojawiła się w Stanach Zjednoczonych krótko po jej wynalezieniu i rozpowszechnieniu w Europie w latach trzydziestych dziewiętnastego wieku i właściwie od początku służyła jako medium dokumentujące przestrzeń Ameryki, życie jej mieszkańców, jak również polityczne i społeczne konflikty (na przykład wojnę secesyjną). Wykład omawia nie tylko najważniejsze postaci, idee, ruchy i instytucje, które przyczyniły się do szybkiego i wielotorowego rozwoju amerykańskiej fotografii, ale również przedstawia jej rozwój techniczny (a więc materialny) jako medium komunikacji wizualnej oraz ukazuje jej burzliwe dzieje jako dziedziny sztuki, gdzie istotną rolę odgrywają aspekty formalnego przedstawienia, kompozycji i poetyki obrazu. |

Wykład poświęcony jest kulturowej historii fotografii w ujęciu tematycznym i problemowym. Technologia fotograficzna (zapis i utrwalenie obrazy przy pomocy światła) pojawiła się w Stanach Zjednoczonych krótko po jej wynalezieniu i rozpowszechnieniu w Europie w latach trzydziestych dziewiętnastego wieku i właściwie od początku służyła jako medium dokumentujące przestrzeń Ameryki, życie jej mieszkańców, jak również polityczne i społeczne konflikty (na przykład wojnę secesyjną). Historycznie rzecz ujmując, materiał wykładów toczy się wokół głównych nurtów fotografii amerykańskiej od pierwszych dagerotypów po dzisiejszą fotografię kosmiczną, ale zorganizowany jest tematycznie. I tak na przykład obejmuje między innymi następujące zagadnienia: gatunki i konwencje wczesnej fotografii amerykańskiej, fotografię etnograficzną, obrazy wojny secesyjnej i niewolnictwa, rozwój miast i powiązane problemy społeczne, krajobrazy Ameryki i ich estetyka, fotografia (post)modernistyczna i industrialna/ postindustrialna, rola fotografii w rozwoju społeczeństwa konsumerystycznego, fotografia uliczna, fotografia a konflikty społeczne, polityczne i zbrojne, obrazy życia codziennego, fotografia portretowa, fotografia artystyczna. Umiejętności: - umie posługiwać się narzędziami analizy tekstu fotograficznego - potrafi wykorzystywać wiedzę na temat historii i kultury Stanów Zjednoczonych by formułować argumenty na temat roli fotografii w kulturze Ameryki 3. Kompetencje społeczne: - rozumie i docenia rolę fotografii jako medium w kulturze Stanów Zjednoczonych - jest uwrażliwiony/-a na retoryczny wymiar obrazu fotograficznego i jego roli w komunikacji społecznej |
Metody i kryteria oceniania: |
Ocena uzależniona jest od wyniku egzaminu. Egzamin składa się z dwóch części. Część pierwsza obejmuje znajomość ikonicznych fotografii amerykańskich omawianych na zajęciach (pula zostanie dokładnie określona).
