Brief description

The course is conducted in the form of a field and laboratory practice. It includes a field course and stationary classes in some selected laboratories of the Faculty of Geology at the University of Warsaw.

During the field course, students perform technical and research activities on a rock geological section.

During full-time classes, they participate in the presentation of equipment and selected research methods in the laboratories of the Faculty of Geology. In the laboratories of WG, they prepare the research results they have collected.

Students work individually. They prepare an individual multimedial presentation or poster with substantive applications, which is the basis for passing the course.

At each stage of the students' work, lectures are conducted on an ongoing basis to supplement their knowledge and consultations.

Brief description

(in Polish) Celem zajęć jest rozszerzenie wiedzy studentów z zakresu petrologii skał osadowych, polegające na umiejętności analizy danych terenowych, petrograficznych, mineralogicznych i geochemicznych i wykorzystaniu ich do interpretacji środowisk sedymentacji. W trakcie ćwiczeń studenci wykonują badania lub otrzymują gotowe wyniki badań instrumentalnych, a następnie w oparciu o nie klasyfikują skały, interpretują środowiska ich powstawania i przebieg diagenezy. Do samodzielnej pracy studentów są wykorzystywane mikroskopy optyczne i programy komputerowe pozwalające umieszczać dane na wykresach/trójkątach dyskryminacyjnych, na podstawie których następnie można przeprowadzić interpretację środowiska powstawania skał osadowych.
