Brief description
The subject History of urban planning at the Spatial Development Faculty is planned as a two-semester lecture. The subject's task is to provide essential historical knowledge concerning the development of the urban thought, principles of construction and architecture throughout the course of history of European continent from antiquity till the end of the 20th century. Providing such knowledge, as an assumption, is to precede the introduction of design subjects, so that the students have the full possibility of using the achievements of the previous generations when they start working on their own design concepts. A special attention is put on the development and merging of cultures, ideas and theories within a broadly understood European heritage. The topics devoted to urban planning and architecture of non-European cultures are transferred to different classes. |

Together with the course on "Samorząd Terytorialny I" the course allows students to understand the Polish system of local government and its importance for the contemporary state. Students learn about: - the system of local government finance in Poland (revenues from own sources, intergovernmental transfers, borrowing to finance capital investments); - organizational forms of service delivery (available models of service delivery, legal-organizational forms used in Polish local governments) The course consists of 30 hours of lectures and 15 hours of classes |
