Brief description

(in Polish) The theoretical framework known as hydrodynamics and elasticity provides a powerful and complete description of our world at macroscopic scales (i.e, at large scales and long times compared to the molecular scales). The macroscopic dynamics of a variety of complex systems, such as biological and soft materials, atmospheric clouds, and the crust of the Earth, poses a formidable challenge for theoretical modeling, in which knowledge of classical hydrodynamics and elasticity is a major prerequisite.

This course introduces the basic equations of hydrodynamics and elasticity and

methods of their solution.

• We discuss the physics of everyday phenomena

• We provide a uniform mathematical framework to describe flow and deformation

• We show numerous real-life applications and examples

Brief description

This is almost an obvious fact that evolving complex networks play more and more significant role not only in the everyday (socio-economical) life. The prominent example is an internet that connects a significant part of the Earth population. However, we have several other extremely important ones, for instance, trading, telecommunication, biological networks and so on, and so forth. This situation leads to both positive and negative phenomena and processes. For instance, the true eruption of innovations and knowledge/technology transfers are observed. However, also epidemies are spreading easily as well as terroristic attacks. Such a situation changes our life extremely quickly with great intensity. Due to network connections the globalisation is a crucial fact. Hence, it is necessary to present for students in a systematic way the modern approach namely, theories and models concerning different kinds of evolving complex networks. Lectures offer all these modern things to audience.

This academic course aims at familiarizing students with the laser techniques which are applied for studies of atmosphere. It is assumed that after attending the course students will be able to navigate through the current English literature in the field. They will acquaint themselves with the basis of the laser techniques, their advantages and limitations, and will be able to utilize at least one of these techniques in practice.

This lecture is taught in English only, in hybrid form.

Brief description

The classes aim to develop operational proficiency in creating and using machine learning models. This course is intended for anyone interested in the practical side of machine learning, regardless of their year of study or field of study.

The classes take the form of workshops - a lecture and exercise combined in in one block. Greater emphasis is placed on writing efficient and neat code to solve issues encountered while working on machine learning models.

The course is conducted using the TensorFlow package and either Google Colaboratory or participants' own computers. Course materials are in the form of Jupyter notebooks.

Brief description

The course is devoted to mathematically rigorous introduction to classical and quantum field theory. I will discuss general principles, free theories and theories interacting with external classical perturbations. This is a class of theories that allow to understand many difficult concepts nonperturbatively.

The course is not intended to replace the standard course of quantum field theory where the formalism of interacting theories is developed perturbatively, usually using heuristic, not always fully satisfactory arguments. The course can be their complement. The theories discussed in the course illustrate various difficulties of quantum theory: the necessity of renormalization, non-implementability of the dynamics on the Hilbert space, infrared divergencies, problems related to gauge invariance.
