Foreign policies of sub-Saharan African countries

The aim of the course is to provide basic information on the conditions, goals and directions of foreign policy of selected African countries.

The course will debated the main factors shaping Africa’s foreign policy and the international activities of selected countries in the region. The next will be devoted to debate foreign policy, the following countries: Morocco, Libya, Senegal, Ghana, Nigeria, Angola, South Africa, Tanzania, Kenya and Ethiopia – are mainly the countries that played an important role at various sages of modern African history in shaping the international regional system. It will be possible to change the directory to those countries depending on the interests of students.

1. Determinants of Africa’s foreign policy – geopolitical, legacy of colonialism, pan-africanizm and idea of unity of the continent, neutralism and independent. External factors - the evolution of international governance and powers policy.

After completing the course, student has a critical evaluation of Africa’s foreign policy. Should be able to independently analyze the goals of foreign policy for the most important countries in the region. The student should be able to analyze and debate the countries foreign policy, in the context of regional processes shaping the international system.
