The subject is intended to show students the historical dynamics and factors of changes in the ethnic structure in Poland and the importance of interethnic relations for the functioning of the state and society. It is also intended to familiarize students with the categories of sociological and political analysis of relations between various ethnic groups. |

Learning outcomes: |
After completing the lecture, the student: 1. in terms of knowledge: – recognizes the most important historical events and processes influencing the formation of the ethnic structure in Poland and the state of interethnic relations (K_W01), – knows the basic categories of sociological and political analysis of these relations (K_W02), 2. in terms of skills: - is able to explain the origins of both conflicts and harmonious coexistence of Poles and representatives of various ethnic groups in Poland (K_U01), - perceive ethnic relations as a consequence of complex processes resulting from the policies implemented by states and the attitudes of the participants in these relations themselves (K_U02), 3. in terms of attitudes: - is able to understand and critically respond to assessments of ethnic relations in Poland formulated outside academic discourse (e.g. media or political discourse) (K_K01). |
Assessment methods and assessment criteria: |
Attendance check, final written assessment based on: - passing a written test - two-part, containing open questions and questions to be completed (writing time: 60 minutes), or: - final oral examination (for willing students). Students who regularly attend classes may apply for passing the course (absenteeism cannot exceed 20% of classes). |
