The course will present anthropological reflections on cultures and societies of the North and South America, and the Carribbean. |

Topics discussed will include: colonialism, cultural metissage, ethnic and race issues, religions, syncretism and popular religiosity, cultural constructions of gender and sexuality, poverty, marginalisation, health care, cultural importance of food and eating for shaping local/national identities, globalisation, hybridisation, popular culture, violence, conflicts and politics of memory. |
