To arouse students' interest to literatur

The aim of the course is to present the basic events and phenomena in the Polish-Russian literary relationships. The material is presented according to chronological and problematic criteria.

The subject is to broaden and deepen knowledge of Polish-Russian literary relationships. To achieve the given goal students get acquainted with the most important phenomena, writers, and books.

1. Polish-Russian literary relationships to the 18th century (Symeon of Polotsk, Poland-Lithuania-Moscow)

2. Bar Confederation, the Times of Stanislaus August Poniatowski and Catherine II

3. The Polish Kingdom (Petr Vyazemnskiy, Konrad Rileev)

4. Tadeusz Bułharyn

5. Józef Sękowski

6. The literary output of Poles in Siberia (Maksymilian Marks, Wacław Sieroszewski, Juliusz Sabiński)

7. National insurrecitions – from Hercen to Katkov „The Polish Question” in the Russian literature

Knowledge:

− The student has well-organized detailed knowledge about the Polish-Russian literary reliatonships (periods, trends, evolution),

− The student knows the characterized literary works, as well as works of individual writers; problems; literary genres, historical-literary background of the origin of chosen works,

− The student knows the contents of these readings, which were particularly important for the Polish-Russian literary reliatonships

− The student knows the achievements of selected Polish, Russian and West European researchers of Polish-Russian literary reliationships, student refers to the their basic works and opinions.

− The student knows the problems that opposition writers struggled with

− The student has knowledge about Polish-Russian imagology in literatury

Skills:

− The student has the basic events associated with the Polish-Russian relationships and places them in a wider literatury context

-The student can name the key events and figures in the the Polish-Russian relationships,

− the student clarifies, why literaturę influences the Polish-Russian relationships

− The student compares Russian and Polish point of view on the crucial literary phenomena

− The student uses basic literature and historical terminology,

- The student possesses detailed research abilities in the analysis and interpretation of the literary works.

− The student is able to charaterize the genezis and value of discussed issues,

− The student has an ability to work systematically.

Social competences:

− the student understands the specificity of literary studies,

− the student feels the responsibility for the preservation of European cultural and literary heritage

− student is aware of the contribution of Polish and Russian literature in Europe's cultural heritage,

− the student is aware of the importance and role of literature in the functioning of the state,

− the student is able to adequately define the priorities for the task,

− the student has deeper awareness of his knowledge and skills, and feels the need to further learning,

− The student feels obligated to develop his own reading interests and is aware of his responsibility for the reading culture.

1 ECTS – Student’s work

The student has the right to 2 unexcused absences, each subsequent one requires justification. The lecturer decides on the recognition of absence.

Exceeding excused and unexcused absences by 50% of classes may be grounds to fail the course. The conditions for passing the course on the resit exam are the same as on the ordinary of exam.

If it is not possible to conduct classroom classes, classes will be conducted using distance communication tools, most likely Google Classroom and others recommended by the University of Warsaw.
