ECTS credit allocation (and other scores): 2.00 Basic information on ECTS credits allocation principles:
  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;

The purpose of the course of lectures is to provide students with knowledge concerning history of Scotland from its beginning to the Union of Two Parliaments in 1707 including her people, language, art, and culture.

The purpose of the course of lectures is to provide students with knowledge concerning history of Scotland from its beginning to the Union of Two Parliaments in 1707 including her people, language, art, and culture.

Full description:

The course of lectures offers an overview of Scottish history and culture from the beginning of time to the Union of Parliaments in 1707. The aim is to provide students with elementary knowledge concerning history, geography, population, culture, art, and economy of Scotland through her history with the purpose to allow a better understanding of modern Scotland. The course is intended to serve as an opportunity to broaden students’ knowledge of Scottish history and culture, discuss the debatable issue, and give them an opportunity to present (in the form of multimedia presentations) their own personal interests connected with Scotland.

Students who take the course within the 4EU+ project will take it asynchronically – they will have access to prerecorded lectures and other materials via Google Classroom. The final exam will take place as an online test.
