Prerequisites (description):

The seminar is dedicated to students who are interested in glottodidactic issues. The aim of the course is to show the multi-faceted dimension of the assessment process in the context of language learning and teaching, taking into account its formative dimension.

The seminar is aimed at those interested in the issue of assessment in the context of the language learning process. The aim of the course is to sensitise students to its supportive function in relation to both the learner and the teacher.

Full description:

The following topics will be covered during the class:

- assumptions of positive assessment;

- the impact of assessments on language learning and teaching;

- error status of supporting assessment assumptions;

- student self-evaluation;

- evaluating teacher performance;

- qualities of a good foreign language examiner (oral case);

- Classroom climate versus assessment quality;

- analysis and evaluation of diagnostic tools;

- informal diagnostic methods;

- the feedback effect of external examinations;

- the pitfalls of assessment.

At the end of the course, students will have the following knowledge and substantive and social skills.

- defines the concept of supportive assessment by relating it to the context of language education (assessment vs student, assessment vs teacher);

- is able to relate theoretical issues to teaching practice

- searches for information and completes the literature on the subject

- self-evaluates his/her work

Credit for the seminar is based on:

-regular class attendance and an active attitude;

- carrying out scored sub-tasks

- preparation of a written term paper
