Short description:

The aim of the course is for students to acquire the ability of producing sound evaluation of argumentation.

Full description:

Classes consist of two parts - a theoretical and a practical one:

Theoretical part:

(1) Sources of knowledge and propositional attitudes.

(2) Classifications of definitions. Requirements of correctness of definitions.

(3) Types of arguments and the structure of argumentation.

(4) Types of inferences.

(5) The criteria for the use of arguments - rhetorical aspect of communication.

Practical part:

Analysis of selected statements from the press and television journalism.

Literatura: To be provided at a later date.

Efekty kształcenia:

(1) Acquisition of knowledge about correct and incorrect ways of arguing

(2) Widening of a correct evaluation of the methods of arguing in public space.

Learning outcomes:

(1) Acquisition of knowledge about correct and incorrect ways of arguing

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

Grading based on: (1) attendance, (2) activity during classes or submitting a graded written assignment.
