Short description: |
The aim of the course is to increase students' communication skills. Special emphasis will be placed on the semantic aspect of communication. The class has a conversational character. During the meetings, we will analyze examples of actual utterances, both from public and private spaces. The central theme of the course is the concept of logical culture. |

The aim of the course is to increase students' communication skills. Special emphasis will be placed on the semantic aspect of communication. The class has a conversational character. During the meetings, we will analyze examples of actual utterances, both from public and private spaces. The central theme of the course is the concept of logical culture. The classes cover the following topics: 1. Logical culture 2. Fundamental semantic relations: entailment, contradiction, neutrality 3. Presuppositions 4. Argument from analogy, analysis of examples 5. Exercises in paraphrasing 6. Exercises in conceptual analysis 7. Errors in reasoning 8. Oxford debate on a chosen topic |

Development of communication skills, namely: - Sensitizing linguistic detail, - Organizing speaking process, - Acquire the ability of precise paraphrasing. |
Assessment methods and assessment criteria: |
During the exam, the student formulates a previously prepared thesis, presents three arguments in favor of it, and then tries to defend this thesis during the discussion. |
