Classes aim to acquaint students with Turkish literature, its development, main tendencies and writers based on novels and stories available in Polish translation. |
Full description: |
During classes sociocultural context and artistic value of selected works of Turkish literature in Polish translation will be discussed. Students will be acquainted with life and oeuvre of the writers, literary streams and groups the authors represent. The writers and their works became a pretext to present the history of contemporary Turkish literature. |

Learning outcomes: |
K_W05 has detailed and organized knowledge of Turkish literature in Polish translation; can name and characterize most important phenomena/trends/literary texts/writings of Turkey; K_W10 can name and characterize basic cultural phenomena of Turkey; K_W16 demonstrates basic grasp of contemporary cultural life of Turkey; K_U06 can read, analyze and interpret Turkish literary texts in Polish translation and appropriately place them in their cultural context, K_K01 understands the need to learn all one’s life; K_K06; sees the need of dialogue between cultures; K_K07 is aware of significance the culture of Turkey has for the culture of the world. |
Assessment methods and assessment criteria: |
Continuous assessment (50%) - preparation for the classes (reading texts chosen by the lecturer), activity (asking questions, joining the discussion) Oral examination (50%) - a max. 15 min. presentation on a Turkish novel chosen and read in Polish translation by the student, answering questions on its author, historical and sociocultural context etc. Unexcused absence of the student is permissible if it does not exceed 2 classes. Absence (excused or unexcused) during more than 50% of classes results in non-admission to the final examination. |
