ECTS credit allocation (and other scores): 3.00 Basic information on ECTS credits allocation principles:
  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;

Short description:

A survey of the main implications of law applied in particular regions of Asia and Africa resulting from religions practiced there with a focus on Buddhism and Islam.

For example, the Muslim law shari'a, revealed law and jurisprudence i.e. fiqh as well as four main schools of Muslim law and their application in the classical period and today will be discussed.

The impact of Buddhism on legal codes applied in the past will be shown in the examples of Tibet, Mongolia, and Japan. The influence of Confucius versus the Buddhist worldview on the attitude of society will be discussed in the example of China and other places.

A survey of the main implications of law applied in particular regions of Asia and Africa resulting from religions practiced there with a focus on Buddhism and Islam.
