The aim of the course is to acquaint the participants with basic translation techniques. |

(in Polish) Zajęcia służyć mają zapoznaniu uczestników z warsztatem tłumacza tekstów filozoficznych. Poprzez wspólne omawianie przygotowywanych wcześniej przekładów niewielkich partii tekstu na każdym spotkaniu studenci doskonalić będą swoje umiejętności translatorskie, czyli uczyć się identyfikować użyte w oryginale filozoficzne pojęcia i znajdować ich polskie odpowiedniki, unikać podstawowych błędów takich jak kalki językowe, dbać (w każdorazowo określonych proporcjach) o wierność duchowi i literze tłumaczonej pracy, i wreszcie – redagować teksty filozoficzne w języku polskim z poszanowaniem zarówno reguł poprawności, jak i wymogów stylu. |

Learning outcomes: |
Acquired knowledge: - students will be familiar with selected English philosophical terminology - students will be aware of the complex nature of language and of the historical transformations of meanings Acquired skills: - students will be able to translate by themselves, from French into Polish, philosophical texts of an average level of difficulty - students will be able to search and select information from written and electronic sources, using search instruments Acquired social competence: - students will be ready to identify their knowledge and skills - students will be ready to organize their work in an effective manner and to assess critically its level of advancement |
Assessment methods and assessment criteria: |
Grading will be based on written translation papers. The object of evaluation will be the adequacy of translation, its terminological coherence and correctness in terms of Polish language and text edition. Number of absences: 4 |
