The course consists of an introductory meeting and a series of 2-3 field visits or journeys of several hours using different modes of transport. The programme provides an opportunity to gain a practical understanding of the companies, institutions and processes that determine the functioning of the transport sector. Joint journeys and visits to selected locations such as transport company offices, transport infrastructure facilities, traffic management centres, airports and maintenance workshops bring the specifics of road, rail and air transport operations closer. The introductory lecture covers organisational issues and basic information about the facilities visited.
