Short description:

A series of study visits to learn in practice about selected technological and organisational solutions responsible for the operation of the transport system.

Full description:

The course consists of an introductory meeting and a series of 2-3 field visits or journeys of several hours using different modes of transport.

The programme provides an opportunity to gain a practical understanding of the companies, institutions and processes that determine the functioning of the transport sector. Joint journeys and visits to selected locations such as transport company offices, transport infrastructure facilities, traffic management centres, airports and maintenance workshops bring the specifics of road, rail and air transport operations closer.

The introductory lecture covers organisational issues and basic information about the facilities visited. The practical part takes a direct look at the functioning of transport systems and traces the planning, organisation and supervision of transport operations using specific examples.

Bibliography:

Portals for travel planning and organisation, websites of carriers, materials of visited companies and institutions
