Brief description

The objective of the classesis toto familiarize students with the problems of multilingualism and the phenomenon of linguistic contact, deepen their linguistic knowledge, develop the ability to conduct linguistic text analysis and improve students' linguistic competence. The students will get acquainted with the basic concepts related to the phenomenon of multilingualism and linguistic contact. The problem of interference in the process of acquiring of the Russian language by Poles will also be discussed. The course includes discussions of selected problems related to Polish-Russian bilingualism and contacts between Russian and Polish with other languages. The classes will also focus on practical exercises related to the analysis of texts and statements of bilingual people in terms of identifying phenomena occurring in language contact conditions.

Brief description

This course aims to analyze multimodal communication in the Russian Internet, covering both visual and textual elements. It includes linguistic and cultural analysis of internet memes, demotivators, online advertising, and nonverbal communication. The methodology involves a comprehensive analysis of linguistic play, homonymy, antonymy, polysemy, double entendre, comic effect, precedent texts, implicit and explicit meanings, speech acts, implicatures, illocutionary acts, genre hybridization, jargonization, euphemization, etc. Conducted in a seminar format, it uses problem-based learning and flipped classroom techniques. Students engage in group discussions, microprojects, brainstorming, critical thinking, and Google Classroom activities. The classes will be conducted in Russian, aiming not only to analyze multimodal communication in the contemporary Russian Internet but also to enhance participants' language proficiency as an integral part of the course.
