Full description:

The aim of the lecture is to present psychological knowledge in a way that has an application value for future teachers, i.e. it helps to apply psychological knowledge to understanding another person (student / pupil), the course of mental processes and behavior in a specific environment / social context. In addition, the lecture is to provide basic knowledge about atypical development and common educational difficulties. The content of the lecture should contain examples illustrating the described issues. The lecture covers the following issues: psychology as a science – psychological theories and their verification; the main fields of psychology and their usefulness in the work of a teacher; cognitive and emotional processes; emotions and cognition – mutual influence, emotions and learning, emotions and motivation, emotions and self-control and self-regulation; temperament and personality as determinants of individual differences and the functioning of the individual; learning processes – the main regularities in the light of basic learning theories and their psychological consequences (personality changes, cognitive, emotional, social development); motivation to act – genesis, types, ways of arousing motivation important for learning and upbringing; development throughout life – development factors, developmental change, development from conception to death (taking into account the theory of attachment and attachment development); stages of child development important from the perspective of school education; social perception in terms of development and the role of the teacher in his development; verbal and non-verbal communication as the basis for interaction and interpersonal relationship; the individual in the group – roles, norms, structure, group processes, group management and the functioning of the individual; the process of socialization and upbringing in the various stages of life, taking into account the assimilation of moral norms; educational environments (family, school as a system with an open and hidden program and as an educational institution); the role of culture in shaping the personality and patterns of behavior of the individual; developmental crises throughout a person's life as a factor conducive to the problem behavior of the individual and as an introduction to the profession; selected developmental disorders and educational problems of students with special educational requirements in subsequent stages of development from the perspective of the teacher's needs and his cooperation with the school and educational psychologist.
