  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;

Short description:

This subject i divided in two semesters.

In the first semester The students will see the basque traditional culture. The habitat, history, the importance of the basque house (baserri), The sea life, the sports, the languaje and the mitology.

The second semester is abaut the culture with big C: Music, dance, oral and written literature, theatre, and cinema.

Esta asignatura esta dividida en dos semestres.

En el primero los estudantes adquiriran conocimietos sobre la cultura tradicional vasca: Habitat, historia, el caserio vasco, modos de vida tradicioales la mar y la lengua vasca.

En el segundo e curso se centra en la cultura vasco con C mayuscula: Musica,literatura oral y escrita teatro y cine. Sin olvidar las tradiciones que vayan ocurriendo en determinadas epocas del ańo.

Full description:

1. Carnavales vascos. Cranavales paganos y carnavales cristianos. De los Joaldunak a los atorrak.

2.La musica.

Instrumentos tradicionales: Txistu, alboka, txalaparta...

Compositores clásicos: Arriaga,sarasate...

Música folclórica: de “Maurizia Aldeiturriaga” a “Oskorri” pasando por “Ganbara”.

Cantautores Vascos. Música de rebeldía de los anos 70

RRV ,o sea, Rock Radical Vasco: Kortatu, Hertzainak...etc

3.Bailes tipicos del Pais vasco.

Trajes tradicionales de las diferentes regiones.

Bailes rituales, bailes de cortejo y bailes en pareja.

4.Literatura oral vasca. El bertsolarismo.

Pasado, presente y futuro de la improvisación oral vasca.

5.Literatura escrita.Desde Etxepare (S.XVI) a Unai Elorriaga

6.El teatro.La mascaradas y las pastorales.

7. Cinematografia basca. De "el mayorazgo de Basterretxe"(1920 al siglo XXI

8.Mitos, Creencias, magia y rituales ancestrales.

Seres de la mitologia vasca: La dama de Anboto, Herensuge, Basajaun, Lamias, galtzakorris.

Símbolos, amuletos, oraciones.

Leyendas.

Learning outcomes:

K_W01 how to link Basque studies with other disciplines of the humanities on a basic level, including the study of culture and religion of European Countries.

K_W02 basic methods of analyzing Basque-language literary works, i.e. basic knowledge of Basque literature and its specificity as a discipline

K_W03 basic terminology, subject and fields of research covering selected fields of science and scientific disciplines relevant to Iberian studies;

K_W04 the history of Basque literature (trends, currents of a given periods, main authors and their work);

K_W05 the basics of the connections between Basque literature within historical and cultural processes;

K_W06 the most important events in the history of Basque Country and important aspects of Basque culture and language;

K_W07 to a basic extent, the mechanisms of Basque language evolution and its features in specific periods;

K_W08 basic aspects of descriptive grammar of the Basque language (phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax);

K_W09 basic concepts and principles in the field of intellectual property protection and copyright

Social competences: upon graduation the student is capable of

At the end of de semester the students will write an essay abaut a basque subject.
